SONG, SPIRIT & SOUL: Poetry Freestyle

Hi guys!

Happy Friday to those of you on this side of the hemisphere. I am typing this at 01:01am. The end of the week is the best time for most. When you get that Friday feel in' nothing can beat that! Here goes my first poetry freestyle as I can't sleep.

Look Within

Looking in from the outside
The night sky on the horizon
The melody of the wind
Says to look within
Look within for strength
Look within for hope
Look IN from the OUTSIDE
Outside may look like a lot
A lot that meets the eye
But not the heart
With our eyes we see
With our heart we feel
So I say to you
Look in from the outside

Your heart says ALOT!

Song, Spirit & Soul : Happy New Year!

Hi everyone!

I'm sure you have noticed I have been M.I.A! But rest assured I had an amazing holiday season and I hope you did too!

Now that 2015 is here we all have our resolutions. Instead of resolutions I prefer goals, a small list of achievable ones. Using the SMART formula I have written down three goals, and within these tasks required to actually achieve them. This is something I learnt in Professional Development at uni- and it is SO useful. Once you write some goals down and have a strategy you feel like a weight is lifted off your shoulders!

Hope you all get those goals up and running and 2015 is an amazing year!

I plan to bring a lot more to the cyber world, so look out for more. So much is happening this year including some NEW music of course. I will be recording and releasing a piano EP 'Moonlight In The Clouds' this month! Snippets as well as letting you in on my musical journey will be here too.

This year mum decided no cooking, so we went to The Hilton hotel for Christmas lunch. It was great! We were sure to pig out, and enjoy the festivities!

Here are some photos from this years Christmas:

New Years Eve we cancelled all plans and stayed home, since we had guests on New Years Day. Dressed up to welcome 2015 of course!

SPIRIT Post: Freestyle

Hi Guys,

So I decided to type, type what was on my mind. Whatever came into my head. I love writing, poetry/lyrics so I may do some more of these random poetry freestyles; no edits.

Up against it all
Up against it all
Up against the wall
Up against the wall
It's not easy
To admit when we fall
Up against it all
Up against the wall
What's life
With no meaning at all
Up against it all
Up against it all
The trials and tribulations
Will one day feel so small
Up against the wall
Up against the wall
Always remember
You were called
For His plan
Up against it all
Up against it all
No mountain is ever too tall
Up against it all
Up against it all
No mountain is ever too tall

SPIRIT POST: Religion

A friend of mine tweeted a video titled 'Why I hate Religion, But Love Jesus' a poem written by a guy who goers by the name of JeffBetheke aka Jefferson Betheke about his journey to becoming a Christian where he highlighlights the difference between religion (Christianity) and being a believer of Jesus Christ in his eyes. A catholic priest responded in the same spoken word form, video entitled: 'Why I Love Religion, And Love Jesus, showing the Catholic perspective.

I found this extremely interesting as I had never thought of separating religion with being a believer. Refreshing I think- as a believer in love and positivity most of all.

After watching Jefferson's spoken word and the response in a Catholic's perspective, I wrote my own poem in a sense. Unedited & Uncut, first words typed into my iPhone here it is:

Jesus
Means
Love
Agape
If we love
We tear down all barriers
All divides gone
Religion
To this day still
Creates separation and divide
Christianity split into
Subdivisions
Via Henry the 8th
Who wanted to get divorced and remarried

Religion has been another form of segregation

BUT

I do believe if we are to
Make
Being a follower of Jesus Christ
Possible
We do need the umbrella Christianity
Which is in turn a religion
As the way the world
Society works
The security held in
Faith and religion
Can be damaged
And make it impossible
To seek the love
And relationship
With Jesus

As you can tell I can see and understand both points of view.

See the video links below.

Food for thought. Refreshing!
